With the Decree of the Council of Ministers No. 2009/15546 published in the Official Gazette dated 3 November 2009 and numbered 27405, and with the Decree of the Council of Ministers No. 2009/15612 (additional) published in the Official Gazette dated 24 November 2009 and numbered 27416, 5 types and 27 Vocational and Technical Education Faculties were closed when their students graduate and no later than the 2015-2016 academic year.
A total of 26 new faculties, including 3 new types, were established within the universities where the closed Vocational and Technical Education Faculties were located.
A total of 21 faculties, 19 of which were ‘Technical Education Faculties’ and 2 of which were ‘Vocational and Technical Education Faculties’, were established in these closed faculties.
The departments of 7 of these 21 Faculties of Technology, which meet the education and training criteria for engineering, were opened for education and students were accepted for the 2010-2011 academic year.
One of these 7 faculties approved for student recruitment is the newly established Faculty of Technology within Marmara University.
The Department of Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Technology has been approved by the Council of Higher Education to admit a total of 87 students, 67 students from the General Quota and 20 students from the Vocational and Technical Secondary Education Institutions Graduates Quota (E.I.G.Q.) with the 2024 Student Selection and Placement System (SSPS).
